The Externship is the most complete and comprehensive immersion into the EFT model that is offered. Please join us for a wonderful 4 day experience with the creator of the model itself, Dr. Sue Johnson, and certified EFT Trainer Michael Barnett, the Founder and director of the Atlanta Center for EFT. The Externship is a fun and powerful experience as it includes clear, and readily approachable presentations of the theory, therapy process, and clinical techniques central to EFT. The concepts will be illuminated with wonderful video clip demonstrations of therapy sessions, and further brought to life with opportunities to play with the very skills inherent to making EFT a unique and effective process. We will also be offering you the opportunity to see EFT on the fly, as Sue and Michael will be facilitating two live couple's therapy sessions with couples whom they have never met before.
Who should attend?
The externship is recommended to all professionals who counsel couples, including psychiatrists, psychologists, family physicians, social workers, psychiatric nurses, counselors, pastors and clergy, and students training in these professions.
Participants learn to:
- Identify the basic stages and steps of Emotionally Focused Therapy
- See marital distress from an attachment perspective
- Help couples recognize and deescalate problematic patterns of interaction
- Help couples understand the underlying attachment needs that drive these negative patterns
- Help couples create and restore the emotional bond between them
- Help couples repair attachment injuries, fostering healing within and between the couple
Application for 28 CEs for all disciplines has been applied for through Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES). (You must request and pay for CEs when you register.)
Participants are strongly encouraged to read the 2004 book on EFT - Creating Connections, before coming to the Externship.
We sincerely hope you can join us in Orlando for this exciting event!
